My Thesis

My thesis “A Unified Framework for Resource-Bounded Autonomous Agents Interacting with Unknown Environments” has recently been downloaded over hundred times, which is why I decided to dedicate a page to it.

In a nutshell, the aim of my PhD thesis was twofold:

  1. Investigate the foundations of adaptive control and artificial intelligence—that is, to identify the underlying theoretical assumptions:
  2. Why do we use Bayes' rule for modelling uncertainty?
  3. Why do we solve Bellman optimality equations? We always claim that this is motivated by economic theory.
  4. What are rewards, and how do they relate to the utilities?
